Submit Manuscript

Please review the instructions to authors before sending your Microsoft Word manuscript below. All requested information is required. If your manuscript is accepted, a member of the UPOJ Editorial Board will contact you to request high quality images and figures.

Editorial Philosophy

The University of Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Journal’s mission is to provide concise reviews of orthopaedic disorders, techniques, and treatments by experts in all disciplines of musculoskeletal care. UPOJ will consider for publication original clinical or basic science research, review articles, case reports, and technical or clinical tips. The authors are asked to clearly define and narrow the scope of their topic to a specific condition or technique. In doing so, the goal of providing useful, descriptive summaries can be achieved.

All manuscripts are considered for publication. Original work is given highest priority for publication. However, if a submission has been published or presented elsewhere, the author is required to obtain permission from the previous publisher and include this information with the submission. A cover letter stating such must be submitted with the manuscript.

All manuscripts will be published in print and online. The online access is open access, and may be accessible through various online search engines, including Google Scholar. UPOJ is not currently indexed in any medical journal index (including the NLM index).

All other correspondence should be sent to editor@upoj.org.

Online Submission

All manuscripts can be submitted through our Online Manuscript Submission system below. Manuscripts should be uploaded as a single word document with all figures and tables embedded. Authors will provide high resolution figures and tables upon acceptance.

Editorial Review Process

All submissions are sent to expert consultants with affiliations, either past or present, with the University of Pennsylvania Department of Orthopaedics for peer review. The review process is blinded for reviewers.

Authorship

It is to be clearly understood that each author has contributed in a meaningful way to the preparation of the manuscript, agrees with its content, and assumed full responsibility for the content of the manuscript. Copyright of the articles is retained by the submitting author.
